Workers Compensation for Strata Communities

Understanding your workers compensation obligations is an important part of managing a strata property. This guide explains who should be declared, how premiums are calculated, and what needs to be in place to ensure appropriate cover.

Workers compensation is governed by statutory schemes in all Australian jurisdictions. The structure and administration of these schemes differ between States and Territories, including whether cover is obtained through state-based authorities or through insurers operating within the statutory framework.

When your schedule shows that cover for workers compensation is selected, cover is provided for your legal liability under the applicable workers compensation legislation of the State or Territory where your insured property is situated. Workers compensation cover is provided under a separate policy and is subject to the terms and conditions of that policy. In some jurisdictions (including NSW, VIC, QLD and SA), workers compensation cover is provided through statutory schemes rather than under the policy.

Relevant information for your State or Territory, including wages declaration forms, can be found here.
