Co-Founder & Managing Director
Strata Community Insurance
With over 30 years’ experience in insurance and financial services, Paul has overseen business in both board and executive positions.
He co-founded Strata Community Insurance in March 2014 and is the company’s Managing Director. Prior to this Paul spent 8 years as Managing Director at CHU and BCB and 13 years at Zurich Financial Services. Paul has worked within the insurance markets of the USA, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and United Arab Emirates.
Paul holds an executive MBA from the University of NSW and is a Senior Associate of the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance & Finance (ANZIIF). Paul is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
David Ellis
Head of Underwriting
Strata Community Insurance
David has over 35 years insurance and reinsurance experience with experience in senior management and technical leadership. He joined Strata Community Insurance in February 2021 as Head of Underwriting.
David has previously been involved in Strata insurance setting up the new to market insurance proposition in 2010 in the United Arab Emirates and working with the real estate regulatory authority, strata managers, lawyers and customers on insurance education and the impact of newly introduced Strata laws. He also set up a new underwriting and claims proposition in the United Kingdom to write ‘Flat Insurance’.
In Australia he started in commercial underwriting, then reinsurance broking before moving to AIG as Property and Energy manager in Sydney until 2003. He has spent the last 18 years working across Japan, Asia, and the Pacific, the Middle East and the UK working with Ace (now Chubb), Royal Sun Alliance and QBE, including the last 7 years as Head of Property and Underwriting Performance & Governance for Asia Pacific based in QBE Singapore, and Chairman of the Global Property Practice.

With over 25 years’ experience Michael has held various claims and management roles in the insurance industry. Michael joined Strata Community Insurance as the National Claims Manager in April 2017.
Previously, Michael spent 6 years at National Marine Insurance Agency as a Claims Consultant and 11 years at Lumley Insurance in various claims and management roles.
Key to Michael’s experience is his ability to effectively and efficiently manage claim outcomes across multiple lines of business.
Michael’s role as National Operations Manager at MCS Group; a major building consultancy and engineering service provider to the Insurance Industry, gives Michael invaluable experience in common construction and engineering issues, pertinent to managing typical building risks faced by Strata owners.

Con has more than 20 years’ experience in Bodies Corporate insurance. He heads up the Strata Community Insurance Queensland operation and is responsible for our National Partnerships and Distribution programme.
With a career spanning more than 34 years in the insurance sector, Con has an enviable track record and in-depth insurance market knowledge gained through several senior roles including claims, sales and underwriting.
Con is well respected in the strata industry through his significant contribution to the various SCA (QLD) committees past and present. His contribution was acknowledged with the distinguished award of “Fellow” within Strata Community Australia for his services over many years.
